The following is a step-by-step guide to setup an Email account for your Android Device.
Please note that these are general instructions and may need to be varied slightly from phone to phone.
1. Navigate to your phone settings > Accounts > Add account > Email.
2. Key in your email address and password (usually in the format (username@domainname .com).
3. Choose type of account you want (POP3, IMAP, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync). Our recommendation is IMAP.
4. In the Incoming Server Settings, the 'Email Address' field will already be filled in. Repeat your email address in the 'Username' field. Password should already be filled in.
5a. If you prefer to use SSL (recommended), the IMAP/POP3 server IP will be in the format eg.'(185.175.231.182)
In the 'Security Type' field select 'SSL (Accept allcertificates)'.
Port number should be 993 for IMAP, or port 995 for POP3.
Leave path prefix blank. Click 'Next' when finished.
5b. If you prefer non-SSL, you will be required to use your own mail server. It will likely be in the format 'mail.yourdomain.com'.
In 'Security type' field select 'None'.
Port number should be 143 for IMAP, and 110 for POP3.
Leave path prefix blank. Click 'Next' when finished.
6. The next screen shows the Outgoing Server settings.
If you chose SSL, type in your server name in the 'SMTP server' field, it should be in the format eg.(185.175.231.182)
Choose 'SSL (Accept all certificates)'.
The 'User name' and 'Password' fields should already be complete.
Port number should be 465.
For non-SSL, you will be required to use your own mail server. It will likely be in the format 'mail.yourdomain.com'. Choose 'None' in the 'Security type' field.
Port number should be 25.
'User name' and 'Password' fields should already be filled in.
Click 'Next' when finished.
7. Fill in your own preferences in the 'Account options' screen. Click 'Next' when finished.
8. Fill in your own preferences in the 'Set up email' screen. Click 'Done' when finished. That's it! To test your new account, navigate to your email application, and start sending test emails.
